The collection is formed by 13 letters written in French, 1832-1836, as well as their analysis by Dr. François Velde, who discovered the letters in 1993. The letters are part of the correspondence of the Marquis de Clermont-Tonnerre, a minister in the French government of Charles X, and Marie-Caroline, duchesse de Berry, daughter-in-law of King Charles X.

Abstract

This collection contains copies of seven documents created in the 1950s concerning the Surrealist turmoil originating from the ‘Affaire Carrouges’. In 1951, a conflict between Surrealists Henri Pastoureau and Michel Carrouges due to a disagreement about religion resulted in the fracturing of the French Surrealist movement for three months. There is representation from both sides of the conflict in this collection.

Abstract Starting in the spring of 1915, during World War I, some women in unoccupied France volunteered for the role of "war godmothers," marraines de guerre. To provide the moral support these men, so-called "war orphans," could not receive from their families, women in unoccupied areas became their pen pals. Édouard-René Lefèbvre de Laboulaye was a French businessman, lawyer, author, professor and politician born in Paris January 18, 1811. The collection consists of two volumes entitled "Constitution des États-Unis" containing 59 lectures written in French and delivered by Laboulaye at the Collège de France. Most were delivered in 1862-1863.

An anti-Dreyfus articulated caricature printed on thin cardboard, depicting a soldier in red pants and cap plunging the writer Émile Zola into a barrel of molasses bearing the word "Vidange", with a brad fastener used to move the soldier's arm (and thereby the figure of Zola) up and down into the barrel.
